Fire-retardant thermowood cladding with Burnblock

Thermoarena fire-retardant cladding combines thermally modified timber with BURNBLOCK® fire retardant. The retardant is introduced by vacuum-pressure impregnation through the whole cross-section – it is not a surface coating, so the protection is not limited to the outer layer and no extra coating against leaching is needed.

Fire class and conditions

Burnblock thermowood reaches fire class B-s1,d0 under EN 13501-1 when the boards are at least 15 mm thick and installed over a ventilated cavity of at least 40 mm. Thermo ash cladding also achieves K1/K2 10 fire protection. Always check the class required for your building with your designer or fire safety consultant before ordering.

Species

SpeciesDensity
Thermo pine450–500 kg/m³
Thermo ayous269–374 kg/m³
Thermo ash590–680 kg/m³

The thermal modification itself – 180–220 °C in steam, without chemicals – gives the cladding dimensional stability and decay resistance; thermo pine and thermo ayous reach EN 350 durability class 1–2. Light thermo ayous is popular for interiors and ceilings, while dense thermo ash gives a premium hardwood look.

Safe for people and the environment

The Burnblock fire retardant is natural, biodegradable, pH-neutral and non-corrosive, and it is Cradle to Cradle Certified Gold. That makes it a good fit for buildings where people live, learn and are cared for.

Where it is used and how to order

Typical applications are facades and interiors of public buildings such as schools, kindergartens and care homes, as well as apartment buildings, escape routes and saunas where a higher fire class is required. Burnblock thermowood is sold by quote: send the species, profile, size, quantity and the fire class specified by your designer, and we reply within 1 business day with price, production time and transport. Terms are EXW Järvamaa, Estonia, with delivery on request. Estonian prices include 24% VAT; the export price without VAT applies outside the EU and to EU businesses with a valid VAT number.
