Thermowood decking boards for terraces and docks

Thermoarena thermowood decking is made from thermally modified Scandinavian pine (PEFC/FSC certified raw material). Heating the wood to 180–220 °C in steam without chemicals makes it stable, resin-free and resistant to decay: thermo pine reaches EN 350 durability class 1–2, giving 15–25+ years outdoors without impregnation.

Profiles and the hidden clip system

  • D5 – grooved (ribbed) top, fixed with screws in the conventional way.
  • D6 – smooth top with a ribbed underside.
  • D5CLIP – grooved top with side slots for hidden clips.
  • DCLIP – smooth brushed top with side slots for clips.

All profiles come in 26×117 and 26×140 mm, lengths 1.8–5.1 m, optionally with tongue-and-groove end matching. Rails for the clip system are available in 45×27, 45×42, 45×68, 45×92 and 45×140 mm. With the clip profiles there are no visible screws or screw holes, the clips set an even gap automatically and installation is much faster. Boards can be removed and reused later.

How much material do you need?

26×117 boards need about 8.13 running metres per m², 26×140 boards about 6.85. Add 5–10 % for cutting waste. If you prefer a priced option, planed thermo pine boards 26×92, 26×117 and 26×140 start from €3.34/lin. m (minimum 1000 lin. m per order).

Installation and care

  1. Space the joists no more than 50–60 cm apart and keep the substructure well ventilated.
  2. Leave 5–7 mm gaps between the boards.
  3. Use stainless A2/A4 screws and pre-drill, especially near board ends, as thermowood is slightly brittle.
  4. Oil once a year with a pigmented oil if you want to keep the brown colour; untreated boards turn silver-grey.

Questions & answers

What is the difference between D5, D6, D5CLIP and DCLIP?
D5 has a grooved top and is screwed down; D6 has a smooth top and a ribbed underside. D5CLIP (grooved top) and DCLIP (smooth brushed top) have side slots for hidden clip fixing.
How do the clips and rails work?
The clips sit in the side slots of the boards and are fixed to special rails (45×27 to 45×140 mm), so no screws are visible on the surface. They create even gaps automatically, speed up installation and let you remove and reuse boards.
How much decking do I need per m²?
About 8.13 lin. m per m² for 26×117 mm boards and 6.85 lin. m per m² for 26×140 mm boards. Add 5–10 % for cutting waste.
What should I keep in mind when installing?
Keep joist spacing at max. 50–60 cm, leave 5–7 mm gaps and make sure the substructure is ventilated. Use stainless A2/A4 screws and pre-drill near the board ends.
How do I order and get a price?
Decking profiles are sold by quote: send the profile, size, quantity and destination via the form or WhatsApp. We reply within 1 business day with price, production time and transport, EXW Järvamaa.
