Pressure-treated decking boards 28×120 mm

Pressure-treated (deep-impregnated) decking is the most affordable way to build a durable terrace. Pine boards are impregnated under pressure so the preservative penetrates deep into the wood and protects it against rot. Our 28×120 mm boards are brown and cost €2.46 per running metre incl. VAT.

Uses and quantity

The boards are used for terraces, walkways, docks, steps and garden structures. A 28×120 mm deck needs about 8 running metres per m², so the material costs roughly €20/m² incl. VAT. For a 20 m² terrace you need around 160 lin. m – add 5–10 % for cutting waste.

Pressure-treated or thermowood?

Pressure-treated decking is the cheaper option. Thermally modified timber is treated with heat and steam only, so it is chemical-free, more dimensionally stable and has a rich brown colour; thermo pine reaches EN 350 durability class 1–2. Planed thermo pine decking 26×117 costs €3.66/lin. m (about €30/m²), with a minimum order of 1000 lin. m.

Installation and care

  • Space the joists about 50–60 cm apart and keep the substructure ventilated.
  • Leave 5–7 mm gaps between the boards for drainage and movement.
  • Use stainless or hot-dip galvanised screws and pre-drill near the ends.
  • Treat cut ends with a wood preservative.
  • Let the new deck dry for a few weeks, then apply decking oil or stain; clean and re-oil as needed, typically once a year.
